Gateway

The Gateway Program is a two-part diversion series designed to promote brain injury awareness and prevention among adolescents who have been arrested for misdemeanor offenses that could result in TBI. The program makes the link between risky behaviors and the causes, costs, and consequences of brain injuries.

Gateway’s curriculum focuses on the risks of underage drinking, the effects of alcohol and marijuana on the teenage brain, and the importance of safe driving. Attendees participate in empathy exercises and hear from survivors of brain injury who describe how their injuries have changed their lives.

Gateway, conducted in collaboration with the District Attorneys' offices throughout the Commonwealth, gives juveniles with first-time convictions a second chance to make good choices.
